Biddlesden is a tiny hamlet a few yards from the Bucks/Northants border, with the infant River Great Ouse forming part of its western boundary.  Although officially in Bucks, its nearest neighbours are Whitfield and Syresham, both in Northants.  Its church, which is within the grounds of Biddlesden Park House, is one of several in the area associated with the family of Sir George Gilbert Scott, who was born in Gawcott, near Buckingham.

In 1147 a Cistercian Abbey was founded in Biddlesden which survived until 1538.  Its ruins were finally demolished in the 1730s and Biddlesden Park built in its place.
